Feedback vanuit VNSG Congres 2016

Sinds de aankondiging van S/4HANA in februari 2015 is de VNSG rechtstreeks en via het internationale netwerk SUGEN (SAP User Group Executive Network) met SAP in gesprek geweest over S/4HANA, de nieuwe generatie ERP.


De informatievoorziening over toegevoegde waarde, business case, roadmaps, migratiescenario’s en klantvoorbeelden is nu veel beter dan in het begin. Toch bleek uit de rondetafeldiscussie die de VNSG tijdens het congres had georganiseerd dat er nog steeds veel uitleg nodig is voordat de grote meerderheid aan organisaties S/4HANA zal adopteren.


Dit zijn de vragen of opmerkingen vanuit de S/4HANA rondetafeldiscussie tijdens het VNSG Congres:

  • Considering S/4HANA doesn’t cover all functionality right now, how will customers perform end-to-end processes with new and old functionality in one system? Customers need examples and demos for this, not only about the new S/4HANA functionality and user interface.

  • S/4HANA has compatibility views for old custom programs. The expectation is that this is read-only. What about custom programs that write to old tables and fields? Do they also still work?

  • Customers need experiences and examples of other companies who already went through the migration from ECC to S/4HANA.

  • The added value of S/4HANA is still not clear for customers and for example also not what IT can explain to the business or to the CFO (about TCO) -> S/4HANA Value Advisor http://s4value.com

  • Customers don’t know what to expect when they license S/4HANA. The expectation is that the engine and user licenses cover every ERP functionality, but there are so many exceptions.

Deze vragen en opmerkingen komen dan bovenop de nog openstaande vragen en opmerkingen binnen SUGEN:

  • Information about hardware requirements needs to be more consumer friendly.

  • More customer experience stories desired on technical migration.

  • Ensure knowledge about S/4HANA and the roadmaps within SAP is up-to-date.

  • Customers need roadmaps that demonstrate the integration between S/4HANA and other SAP solutions (end-to-end LoB processes).

  • Information (level and quantity) about S/4HANA should be divided according to stakeholder, i.e. level 1 could be an executive summary (short, concise & high level) and level 4, in-depth, detailed information for specialists, with the goal to provide information according to the different needs.


De VNSG blijft aan SAP vragen om aan bovenstaande informatiebehoefte te voldoen.
